Environmentalism vs Conservationism

Environmentalism is a religion, fanatical and inhuman in the way it looks at the world.
In the mind of an "environmentalist" the life of a human is less than the preservation of a species. The collectivist values that they espouse violate the inalienable rights for human life, liberty etc. How can a group of people honestly say they are for "the people" when all of their actions prevent improvement, halt progression and focus only on preventing the use of resources at all costs?
On the flip side, the basics of their philosophy have some very valid points. Why do we over fish our waters? Why use petroleum based fuels with there are other cleaner energy sources?
This is where Conservationism comes in. This Conservation ethic looks to preserve the natural world for its beauty, its resources etc. The Sierra Club was original started on this ethic, but has since moved to extremism.
The question is, where do we draw the line? How do we bring Conservationism back into the economical/political arena?

You know, this is a fascinating take on the world today. Most people are of the opinion that if you are not "green" or an environmentalist, you are naturally against the earth. I like how you define the line between environmentalism, and conservationism. It is a fine line to be sure, but I am excited to hear what you have to say on the topic in the future...
